Welcome on the site dedicated to the international network of social street workers. This site will allow you, amongst others, to gain information on all the activities and results obtained within the frame of the network; to participate to the process of exchanges of good practices; to constitute a local workshop of street workers and to become a member of the work.
Dynamo international is at the initiative and coordinates this actual platform of international solidarity for street educators.

Québec’s Trois-Rivières University (UQTR) announced last April the launching of a pre-graduate program on Street Work and Proximity. The course will begin in September 2011 and will have the collaboration of several social workers who carry out their work on the streets. This university is the first one in Québec to offer this kind of training.
This innovative program is aimed at street workers, present and future, as well as coordinators, agency directors, supervisors and trainers interested in street work and other forms of proximity. This program aims to fill a critical need in the field of university education: the area of intervention to aid individuals in a situation of social breakdown. It will allow an expansion of the knowledge and skills of professionals in various areas: new social realities, changing practices of street work (challenges, opportunities, constraints...), emerging social issues (e.g. mental health), the necessary transformation of health and social services networks, among other subjects.
The micro-program proposed by the University will particularly promote constant interaction between theory and practice through co-teaching in most classes. Therefore, there will be an assistant professor, an expert in street work, who will aid most of the time the university professor in order to contribute to illustrating the realities in practice as well as delving into any issues brought up by students.
"Street workers are faced with social realities and increasingly complex problems”, says M. Sylvain Delisle, vice-rector of Undergraduate Studies and Academic Support at UQTR. It is therefore important to create a university training program on this area, to ensure the transmission of knowledge that will enable the best possible practices. Moreover, street work is a strategic move increasingly in demand in the world of local social practices. With the new program, we can better meet this growing demand by expanding the list of potential candidates for organizations working in the street, which are currently struggling to recruit valid personnel.
The new micro-program has been developed by a provincial panel of consultation with provincial representatives of the Association of Workers in Québec (ATTRueQ), the Community Coalition for Street Work of Quebec (ROCQTR), professors from UQTR, Montreal University and the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi and a schoolteacher from Sainte-Foy school. Its implementation has been done with financial support from the Ministry of Education, Recreation and Sports in Quebec.
